Equipment Technician

We are in search of an Equipment Technician to add to our equipment build team.

 

Equipment Technician qualifications:

 

  • Layout of components for assembly from standard CAD plumbing drawings
  • Assembly of water treatment equipment to include softeners, deionization, and filtration equipment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong visual / detail skills
  • Outstanding personal reliability and dependability
  • Other duties as directed by the Equipment Build Manger

 

Our ideal Equipment Technician has the following:

 

  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Trade school certification or experience in plumbing and water treatment assembly
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D CAD technical drawings
  • Experience with PVC piping
  • Electrical and/or welding experience a plus
  • Desire to work in a “team” environment
  • Desire to work occasional overtime and weekend requirements
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Also must possess or qualify for a DOT card
  • A desire to work 7:00-3:30 M-F

Service Technician

Smith Engineering is a growing manufacturer of custom water filtration equipment located in Chaska, Minnesota.  We consider our service team our best source of new customers!  We offer competitive pay and excellent benefit packages, as well as opportunities for personal growth and career advancement.  We are seeking an experienced, professional Water Service Technician to join our service team.

  • Read and interpret plumbing and electrical drawings
  • Troubleshoot and repair AC and DC electrical circuits
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydronic systems
  • Diagnose and repair water softeners
  • Maintain and repair exchange DI systems
  • Maintain and repair Reverse osmosis systems
  • Maintain and repair waste water treatment systems
  • Install and repair ultrapure water distribution systems
  • Install and start up water treatment systems
  • Perform simple Calibration of pH, resistivity and flow meters
  • Possess a Basic understanding of PLC logic

 

Additional requirements:

  • Clean driving record with the ability to obtain a DOT health card for commercial vehicle operation
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Some night/weekend overtime
  • Occasional on-call for emergency service
  • Occasional travel
  • Possess excellent customer service

Mechanical Engineer

This full-time position is for an energetic, open-minded, motivated, and scientifically inclined candidate with an interest in working with others to solve problems. This Mechanical Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning.

We are Smith Engineering; a Chaska, MN based water treatment equipment manufacturer that supplies a long list of Fortune 500 companies with their purified water needs. We are looking for the right candidate to add to our Engineering Support Team.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all steps involved in facilitating a preliminary design to the manufacturing stage.
  • Responsible for Engineering Support communication with new and existing customers.
  • Able to convey customer requirements to product development teams.
  • Responsible for input and implementation of potentially more efficient organization methods.
  • Responsible for CAD drawings; getting plumbing and electrical schematics up to quality approval
    and making needed revisions.
  • Responsible for initiating the organization needed for standardizing equipment.

 

Qualifications

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 2-3 years of engineering support experience.  Additional majors, minors, and/or engineering backgrounds are also attractive.

AutoCAD and SolidWorks will be the primary software tools used.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat is ideal.

Our perfect candidate is very technical and detail oriented, able to work together as a team, while also having the initiative to take a project and run with it alone.

Must be able to communicate professionally in written responses as well as verbally.
